BC Premier Adrian Dix speaking at the Bowen Island Community Health Centre opening on April 15, 2024.

Provincial Health Minister Adrian Dix, Bob Baker from the Squamish Nation, Health Foundation board members, donors, Health Centre staff and guests gathered on the steps of the Bowen Island Community Health Centre for the official opening and ribbon cutting for the new facility, marking an exciting new chapter in health care delivery on Bowen Island.

Health Centre staff will begin welcoming patients in the new facility on April 29, 2024.

“When people are ill, their focus should be on getting well, not on the inconvenience and expense of travelling to other communities to get the care they need,” said Minister Dix. “On Bowen Island, and throughout B.C., the BC government is taking action to better connect people with primary care providers and improve coordination through local primary care networks, so people can receive quality care, locally.”

Bowen Island Health Centre Foundation President Tim Rhodes told guests that the completion of the facility was a “momentous day for the community, for patients, for our more than 550 donors, for our volunteer board and everyone who has supported our vision of putting community health care in community hands.”
