Valerie Castex led the working group which wrote the first respiratory outbreak guidelines for the British Columbia Ministry of Health and is the author of Fraser Health Region’s guidelines for respiratory outbreaks. She has extensive experience with pandemic planning and preparedness. Valerie is a critical care nurse, with a Masters in Epidemiology from UBC and is currently an educator with Douglas College. She has worked as an Infection Control Practitioner for Fraser Health Region and was on the health authority’s Influenza Pandemic Planning Committee. In 2015, she also worked in Saudi Arabia providing guidance during their MERS Co-V outbreak.
